I'm a big lover of movies and film, and my goal is to work in making films. I've been making my own short films since I was 12.

In October 2005, the Guerrilla Filmmaking Competition in St. George Utah was founded by local film critic Adam Mast. I had a short film in the first competition, and have participated several more times over the years. Here are a few of them.

My Guerilla Shorts were made specifically for the Guerilla Film Comp. These films were not.

High Card

The first Guerilla Comp. We were given three days, and one of two themes drawn at random. My best friend of many years Cragun and I drew the theme "Snapping Point," and collaborated on this short. |
A sequel to my first guerilla film The Vampire, I tried for a few months to bring back the original actress, but she was simply unavailable. I liked the idea too much to abandon it, and began to look for a replacement actress. I lucked out, finding an excellent actress who even kind of resembled the original. I took a different role in this film as an actor, and had the help of a very talented friend for the filming and editing, Tel Stewart. This stands as the longest narrative film I have made.

The first Christmas edition of the Guerilla Competition, Christmas is a busy time, especially as a college student with end of the semester. Somehow I got people together, and made this short. Simple, but exactly what I envisioned, I'm very happy with how this one turned out.

The Tell-Tale Heart
|
I've been trying to get this project off the ground since I was 14, and finally in 2014 I was ready to do it. After multiple false starts I had most of the principle photography completed, and strong first cut of the footage I had. While planning the remaing footage I had to shoot, and begining to meet with a composer, my hard drive died with all of the footage on it. I hold out hopes that I will someday be able to afford to recover it, but for now I can only share the poster and some stills.

The Nice List
|
The Christmas edition of the Guerilla Film Competition again. At first I wasn't going to make a film, but then this popped into my head, and it was too good not to do it. It all came together very quickly. It is only a trailer, there is no movie. Maybe someday I will write the whole movie and film it, but for now I'm happy with how this is right now.

Guerilla Films
A Documentary by Trey Paterson
2011-2012
My first documentary, it's about the Guerilla Film Competition. I thought it would be an interesting subject, and a fun way to do a film about the amateur filmmaking community. All these years later, I'm contemplating making a little epilogue, "where are they now" to add to the end, and finally getting it posted online somewhere.
